Philosophy
Moving into the 21st Century, we have taken a closer look at the services we offer, the needs of employers and their staff, and at the areas in which there seems to be room for development. One of the significant outcomes of this has been that we offer an EAP to a higher, more sophisticated level.
It's more than just employee support
Right Corecare's way of working within the context of an EAP is that we recognise that only a small proportion of staff will access the EAP, and our aim is to provide assistance to all staff. Perhaps the biggest change in our EAP strategy is the move towards developing closer working relationships with the employing organisation. By collaborating with other key stakeholders such as Occupational Health, Human Resources and line managers, we work towards resolution of some of the more complex issues that arise in the workplace. We work often at the highest levels within organisations, helping to incorporate well-being strategies into the planning and management of change.
Traditionally, EAPs provided help and support to people who were experiencing a high degree of stress or pressure. Increasingly, there is awareness that this only provides a reactive service that does nothing to change the situations that may be causing the stress. Right Corecare has been engaged in developing new strategies that work proactively, providing support and skills training for managers in order to promote healthier workplaces. By closing the loop in this manner, providing both proactive and reactive support, the aim is to improve performance, attendance, morale and staff well-being with tangible impact on the bottom line.
With the increasing awareness of work-life balance as a life management issue, employees are looking to develop effective ways of balancing work and other aspects of their lives. The impact of this for the workplace means that EAPs will increasingly be used to help individuals and organisations understand how this can be achieved. With the new flexible working legislation, there will be more demand for help in developing healthy and inclusive workplace strategies and solutions.
