Critical Incident Support

Trauma, critical incidents, and post-traumatic stress are all components of the same continuum. Given the attention this has received in recent years, Right Corecare has developed a comprehensive response service to help individuals deal with unexpected incidents.

The type of incidents include

  • Industrial accidents resulting in injury or death
  • Murder
  • Suicide
  • Sudden deaths
  • Bombings
  • Fire
  • Assault

Right Corecare provides a Critical Incident De-briefing service, which is a comprehensive disaster management package, catering for both the trauma impacted employees, and the managers who organise the debriefing for their staff. The service is accessed by telephone, and debriefings are usually carried out face-to-face. Right Corecare will provide a Critical Response Team to work on site when appropriate.

Right Corecare has a network of affiliate de-briefers in the UK and Ireland who have specific training and experience in Critical Incident Debriefing. A critical incident debriefing helps the people affected understand the reasons for their reaction, reduces the individuals' impression they are having an imbalanced reaction and prepares them for the future. It is highly effective in preventing future difficulties, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Our on-site de-briefer will facilitate

  • The ventilation of reactions, feelings and impressions
  • Clients' understanding of the link between the incident and how they are feeling
  • The realisation that others are feeling and reacting similarly, therefore reassuring people they are not acting abnormally
  • The generation of emotional resources from within and outside the group to provide an atmosphere of support and cohesion
  • Preparation of individuals for predictable reactions that may manifest themselves and explain how these may be managed
  • Access to further sources of support if required
